Volunteers

Foundation Sjaki-Tari-Us is being pulled forward by expert and professional volunteers in Holland and Bali.

On the 14th of October 2006, the first volunteers departed as real pioneers. There were ideas, plans, contacts on Bali and there was a signaled need. Of course there were preparing conversations in Holland and the examples of play-learn classes and the basic methods were given along. But we had to just start from the beginning.

By experiencing practical problems and unforeseen tasks the volunteers ran into, they and the board in Holland became wiser and more experienced by just doing in practice with all obstacles. Via phone and e-mail, the support of the framework of policy documents and the visits of board members Thijs, Karin and Ellen the projects are growing in size and professionalism.

There are 25 volunteers working (or have been working) on Bali. Their stay varied from three months to more than one year. Aside from the volunteers four interns worked on their internship with the foundation Sjaki-Tari-Us.

The volunteers are collaborating with the Balinese employees to work on protocols, agreements and minutes. Both the volunteers and the Balinese employees are taking part in the meetings in which logistical, financial and practical business is being discussed.

The counseling and guidance of the volunteers and Balinese employees is done from the Netherlands via phone, e-mail and visits of the board members. During these visits (network) conversations are being performed with important Balinese parties and official institutes. These visits take place every half year.
